You probably heard about how each person’s DNA is different and probably have seen a series or two about a crime seen investigation, CSI might ring a bell, about matching DNA of a suspect to evidences left behind at the crime seen. Well you might not know that other living things like plants, fungus, and insects also have unique genetic DNA that separate ones from another.
The DNA matching work starts by
- Extraction of CORDYTHAI Codyceps sinensis fungus’s DNA from the mycelium
- Run it through DNA sequencer machine to determine the order of the four bases—adenine, guanine, cytosine, and thymine— in a strand of DNA molecules
- The result is then compared to wild Cordyceps sinensis‘s DNA database to determine if it is matched
- Result shows CORDYTHAI C. sinensis is 99% matched to wild Cordyceps
